Urate - An Antioxidant That May Slow the Progression of Parkinson’s Disease

Urate is a salt derived from uric acid. Consisting of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen, scientists now believe that naturally elevated levels of urate may slow the progression of Parkinson’s Disease in men. Researchers from Mass General and Harvard found that recently diagnosed Parkinson’s patients with higher urate levels had slower disease progression during a 2 year study period.
